BAE Systems Senior Manufacturing Engineer in York, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The Combat Vehicles site of BAE Systems located in York, PA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for Proposal and Manufacturing Bill of Material (BOM) creation and maintenance to support transition to production for vehicle platforms. Provides input for routing creation and structure BOM to accommodate established routing. Effectively interfaces with Configuration Management and communicates BOM creation and maintenance to those impacted.

  • Reviews, compares, and evaluates complex Technical Data Package (TDP) drawings for manufacturing execution;

  • Analyzes changes from design engineering and manufacturing and determine impact to drawings, vehicles, and BOMs;

  • Develops and maintain production drawing documentation to support manufacturing execution;

  • Possesses an understanding of routings and how product flows through manufacturing;

  • Acts as a liaison between design engineering and manufacturing in natural work team meetings and discussions;

  • Possesses an understanding of assembly of heavy equipment, automobiles, and/or defense products

  • Working comprehension of Statement of Work (SOW) documentation supporting and directing supplier requirements;

  • Works with industrial engineering and floor support engineering to determine optimum manufacturing processes;

  • Leads activities for problem solving during assembly;

  • Leads manufacturing startup activities/projects;

  • Analyzes complex problems for process and design deficiencies and provide corrective action;

  • Solicits operator input, working with shop supervision, and modify/replace processes to reduce product cost and improve quality;

  • On occasion, represents the company at meetings, conferences, and reviews with the US Government, customers, subcontractors, and other defense contractors if required.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) and Oracle;

  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering discipline(s), industry practices, trends, and applications.

  • Ability to advise management on new development and programs.

  • Interacts amongst a diverse team environment to resolve manufacturing issues associated with production documentation;

  • Able to travels up to 10% / as necessary to other manufacturing sites to evaluate, maintain, and publish model based work instructions.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience working in a heavy-manufacturing environment advantageous;

  • Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environment beneficial;

  • Possess a working understanding of assembly of heavy equipment, automobiles, and/or defense products a plus!
