BAE Systems Procurement Analyst I (MRO) in York, Pennsylvania

Job Description

The BAE Systems site in York, Pennsylvania supporting Combat Vehicles is seeking an experiencedBuyer (Procurement Analyst I: MRO)who will be able to process purchasing requisitions from internal customers. The Buyer will be responsible for creating purchase orders for Maintenance Repair and Operations (MRO) type materials and services.

In this role, the Buyer will negotiate single/sole source procurements, document their best value, quality and delivery in the form of essay-style writing. The successful candidate for this position thrives in a fast-paced, high-intensity/challenging deadline oriented environment.

  • Prepares and solicits competitive bids for pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions. Incorporates technical, quality, contractual and schedule requirements properly into Request for Quote (RFQ) per policies and procedures.

  • Negotiates when a fair or reasonable price cannot be determined by adequate competition, or for single/sole source procurement. Considers cost, price, schedule, quality and other applicable terms and conditions when documenting cost/price analysis.

  • Evaluates competitive offerings to determine the overall best offer for a product/service including supplier past performance, capability, capacity, and financial stability.

  • Prepares source/price justification essays for compliance. Documentation is performed through a detailed review, analysis, or examination of the cost/price proposed by a supplier and a detailed assessment or evaluation as to whether or not a price is fair and reasonable.

  • Generates and commits purchase orders without Management review within signature authority.

  • Complies with internal company and government policy/procedures mindful of FAR.

  • Ability to perform research and source by part numbers (hard to find), descriptions, and service requirements for locations across the U.S. within required time frame to meet schedule and coordinate execution activities with related departments.

  • Identifies the company need for and establishes blanket purchase orders and long-term agreements for repetitive requirements.

  • Troubleshoots and reconciles invoice issues for the department.

  • Monitors total supplier management. In this effort, travel will be required.

  • Meets and coordinates with other functional areas to incorporate value-adding changes.

  • Other responsibilities as required

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Able to manage work within the parameters of a high-stress and fast paced environment;

  • Strong negotiation skills;

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and essay style;

  • Critical thinking and analytical skills;

  • Results focused using persuasion as needed;

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail;

  • Ability to work with a team yet also be able to work independently with problem-solving skills;

  • Able to manage time and sort priorities;

  • Must be computer savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
