BAE Systems Site Lab Manager in Wayne, New Jersey
BAE Systems New Jersey Business Center is seeking a Site Lab Manager (SLM) responsible for ensuring that the engineering labs meet all the requirements of internal and external/government security, safety and ISO 9001 audits. Additionally, the SLM will oversee the activities performed in the engineering lab to include maintaining records for classified equipment and fabrication and testing of assemblies/subassemblies, in accordance with the ISO standards.
The New Jersey Business Center SLM will report dotted line to the New Jersey Business Center HW Engineering Discipline Lead and report directly to the ES US Defense HW Engineering Lab Lead. The SLM is directly responsible for supporting all lab resources for the labs under their control in accordance with the US Defense Hardware Engineering Lab Manual (ELM). The SLM contributes to project success through the consistent and successful application of the lab standard operating procedures found in this document and applicable Site-Specific Documents (SSD s). The SLM will supervise a staff of Lab Coordinator s.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Provide an environment where all Lab stakeholder can execute their Projects in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring the labs are audit ready at all times.
Ensure the labs under their control are compliant with Engineering Lab Manual and associated BAE Systems policies and procedures which include, but may not be limited to:
Lab Establishment, Standardization and Maintenance
Equipment, Handling, Control and Calibration
Chemical/Materials Purchasing, Handling and Shelf Life Control
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and Product Safety
Material Handling and Storage
Foreign Object Damage & Debris (FOD)
Generate, release, and maintain Site-Specific Documents (SSD s) for labs under their control.
Lead Lab process improvement initiatives including the execution of lab self-evaluations. Prepare information and represent their Business Area at Lab Corrective Action Board (CAB) meetings.
Contribute to the US Defense Site Lab Management Team through attendance and participation at Site Lab Manager Status meetings.
Lead and work in conjunction with the Lab Staff, Project Lead(s) and cognizant Safety Representatives, to ensure all training and safety considerations are implemented prior to and during Project execution.
Support root cause analysis and subsequent implementation of corrective action resulting from internal/external audit findings in the labs.
Plan and implement new Labs, as needed.
Assist DL with Capital Planning activities.
Track Rental Equipment, and support the Business Center DL to minimize rental expenses.
Track and recommend equipment dispositions and transfers.
Required Skills and Education
Candidates MUST be eligible to obtain Secret DoD clearance.
Requires a Bachelor s Degree in a Technical Field, Business Administration, or equivalent and eight (8) years experience.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Current or previous functional manager.
Skilled with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience working in a Digital/Power/RF/Microwave lab environments.
Critical thinker to help solve lab issues.
Preferred Skills and Education
Current secret DoD clearance HIGHLY preferred.
Knowledge of databases, MS Office including Access.
