BAE Systems Performance and Process Improvement Specialist in Wayne, New Jersey
BAE Systems is looking for a Performance and Process Improvement Specialist. This position reports to and assists the Director of New Jersey Engineering, and is responsible for the implementation of all performance and process improvement activities and initiatives in engineering at the New Jersey Site. As the engineering focal point for these activities and initiatives, this person will interface directly with the leadership staff of engineering, and with other disciplines including operations, finance, and program management.
Several of the specific activities and initiatives, which this position will lead, shown below. The candidate must show the ability to perform these tasks.
Collection and analysis of engineering performance metrics on a monthly basis, identification of systemic issues and risks, and the review with senior management.
Assisting the Director of NJ Engineering in establishing a Learning Culture by driving the Gold Tag program (a Knowledge Transfer program) throughout engineering, measuring its effectiveness, and coaching as necessary.
Lead the planning and execution of peer reviews as an early defect detection method, and establish a systematic review of their results to identify lessons learned and best practice, and rigorously disseminate throughout the organization.
Lead improvements in the bid process focused on Basis of Estimates, use of relevant historical actuals, and robust identification of risks and opportunities.
Co-lead with operations the improvements to the DTUPC program.
Disseminate all approved process improvements across NJ Engineering with appropriate communications and briefings, and coordinate with the sector process lead.
Working with all engineering leads and program management, develop accurate staffing plans for regular reviews with the NJ Engineering Director and the NJ Business Area Director.
Will apply process improvement, reengineering methodologies, and best practice principles to design and implement process modernization and improvements to projects, workflows, systems, in support of accomplishing initiatives in support of the Engineering Product Development Pillar of achieving Operational Excellence.
Will demonstrate experience establishing performance measures, monitoring and analyzing said performance metrics to identify and implement performance-based improvements.
Will need to be communication savvy and a team player with the ability to work closely with all levels of Engineering and other functions.
Must be able to clearly convey information in understandable terms to those not as familiar with process or workflow.
May be responsible for leading small teams of engineers/specialists or other staff as necessary to complete process improvement implementation.
Assist in the development and maintenance of the project schedules.
Compose and maintain documentation such as but not limited to correspondence, briefings, operating procedures, memorandums reports, and requirements documents
Support tasks requiring the collecting, compiling, evaluating and publishing of information and statistical data in documents, records, forms and reports.
Support analysis of system functionality and business processes and provide improvement recommendations.
Provide support for project resource leveling planning and analysis.
Provide support for product and/or technology investigation.
Support communications with customers, other stakeholders, and service delivery partners.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
B.S. degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
Process improvement background.
Ability to lead diverse multi-discipline teams.
Working understanding of the Engineering Development process with a focus on improvement opportunities
Ability to develop and track predictive and trailing metrics that show the current case and the expected outcome of the improvement projects.
Preferred Skills and Education
