BAE Systems Calibration Technician in Wallops Island, Virginia

Job Description

This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

BAE Systems is seeking a Calibration Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Wallops Island, VA. at the Surface Combat Systems Center, which is a land based test site facility where Navy Combat Systems development, test, training, integration and final certification happens before delivery to the fleet.

Candidate will be required to perform routine calibrations of low to mid-level instruments in the calibration laboratory and where necessary within the facility. The calibration disciplines cover the areas of force, pressure, temperature, humidity, accelerometry, noise, vibration, DC & low frequency, microwave and RF. Technicians will also perform equipment maintenance as necessary and participate in internal audits and proficiency testing. Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, prints and electrical/electronic symbols. Must have knowledge of calibrating physical/mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment. Should be proficient in working onsite with installed ship board systems and have basic knowledge in METCAL and Measure Interactive Query system (MIQ) systems.

Required Skills and Education

Typical education and relevant/related years of experience: High School Diploma and at least 3 years calibration experience, preferably with Naval Combat Systems or Engineering equipment and have basic knowledge in METCAL and Measure Interactive Query systems (MIQ).

Security clearance requirement: Eligible to obtain and maintain a final DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer with a delayed start date until an interim Secret clearance is granted

Additional experience/skills required:

Candidate should be able to use computers and various software applications and database systems in order to maintain equipment calibration records, process equipment calibration data and other required documentation.

Preferred Skills and Education

Highly desired but not required:

Active DoD Secret security clearance

Navy NEC 6673, 6718, 1589 or ASQ Calibration certification.
