BAE Systems Junior Systems Engineer in Sterling, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking talented Junior-level System Engineers who are looking for an opportunity to excel and flourish in a dynamic and challenging cyber security environment supporting the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) National Cybersecurity Protection System (NCPS). The NCPS assists more than 100 federal civilian government agencies with the protection of their networks against advanced cyber threats.

The Systems Engineer supports the development of system capabilities from the identification of requirements through the deployment of capabilities through the requirements definition, designs, and develops system-oriented products and prepares related installation, testing, operation, and maintenance specifications and instructions. Defines and analyzes architecture to establish operating conditions, conducts tests, define and analyze engineering proposals and related technical data to determine feasibility of developing new capabilities and/or modifying existing capabilities.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Analyze user requirements, CONOPS and high-level system architectures to derive, develop and decompose system-level specifications.

Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the system is compatible with defined architecture, and meets customer needs.

Leading and collaborating with Agile Scrum as capabilities are aligned to the operational Sustainment Environment and the associated teams as a key contributor responsible for the design and implementation of advanced cybersecurity capabilities, including the selection of hardware and software and the design of infrastructure services required to enable the cybersecurity capabilities.

Maintaining current knowledge of hardware and software platforms and their associated applications.

Plan and/or support enhancement projects and large system upgrades through requirements definition, implementation, development, operations, performance, testing, cost and schedule, training and support, and/or system disposal.

Leading or developing high quality technical documentation, including user guides, test plans, and contract deliverable items and supporting product line training.

Provide input to hardware (COTS/GOTS/capacity/etc.) recommendations, including support for Technology Insertion in Government Technical Reference Model (TRM).

Active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and program Engineering Review Boards (ERBs).
