BAE Systems Principal Operations Research Analyst in Sterling Heights, Michigan
This position is located in Sterling Heights, though any Combat Vehicles Engineering sites is an acceptable alternative.
The Principal Operations Research Analyst applies advanced multidisciplinary analytical and mathematical methodologies to identify, define, formulate, and solve large complex operational problems to assist decision making that balances risk, operational needs, and stakeholder requirements.
This role will perform a wide variety of duties including operations research, general research, testing and evaluation analysis, mission support analysis and logistics analysis. This position will support the development of advanced combat system concepts and help direct investments in research and concept development.
Specifically, the Principal Operations Research Analyst:
Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and disciplines, includes customer understanding, product knowledge and specialty areas to achieve results.
Applies a systems approach and product life cycle knowledge, resolves conflicts between individual disciplines and conflicting requirements to benefit the total system performance, quality, reliability, and cost.
Conceptualizes, creates, and analyzes system designs to ensure technical outcomes are consistent with customer and company requirements.
Supports trade analyses of concepts, designs, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the Operational Analysis discipline, industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization s technical capabilities. Advises senior management on new developments and programs. Continuously strives to maintain and enhance the technical reputation of BAE Systems with customers and industry.
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Experience in military operations, daily operational support, planning, coordination, facility, personnel, training and technical analyses.
Knowledge of relevant standards and practices for design and production of combat systems.
In-depth understanding of Modeling & Simulation techniques.
Proficiency in areas such as probability and statistics, applied mathematics, Mathematical programming (linear, nonlinear, integer), Network analysis, Queuing theory, and Economic evaluation.
Excellent technical writing skills and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with analytic tools such as Visual Basic, MS Excel, MATLAB/Simulink, Mathcad, and MagicDraw.
Preferred Skills and Education
Master's degree or PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, or Physics
Prior military service with ORSA and Combat Arms experience
CSEP Certification (INCOSE)
