BAE Systems Power Management & Distribution Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan
The Power Management and Distribution Engineer will support multiple programs including the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Armored Multi-purpose vehicle and Paladin Family of Vehicles The candidate will develop working knowledge of power generation systems, low voltage (28V) and high voltage (600V) power distribution and conversion systems, and mobility systems including engine and transmission controls and sensors. The candidate will be required to travel on a limited basis (10%) and will work among an integrated product team (IPT).
The candidate will be responsible for design and integration of electrical components into military vehicle platforms. The candidate will be responsible for evaluating and preparing engineering documentation such as test procedures, test reports, failure analysis reports, and interface documents. Candidate will be responsible for executing tests per plans/procedures and performing data analysis. Candidate will be responsible for failure analysis and issue resolution for electrical components and provide regular status reports to project engineers.
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Required education: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or any other Engineering discipline with 3.0 or greater GPA.
This project requires excellent teamwork skills, technical writing skills, written communication skills, and oral communication skills.
The candidate must be a self starter with a strong work ethic.
The candidate must have the ability to coordinate work with other engineering design disciplines as well as shop personnel.
The candidate must be willing to work in a lab and vehicle environment with high voltage and high power components.
Experience using lab equipment and tools such as oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, power analyzers.
Preferred Skills and Education
Experience using lab equipment and tools such as CAN Bus diagnostic tools, Ethernet diagnostic tools, and data acquisition tools like Labview.
Experience with electrical schematic captures and simulation tools like OrCAD PSPICE and Mentor Graphics Capital.
Experience with power electronics at power levels greater than 10kW and voltages greater than 600V
Experience with power electronics at power levels greater than 30kW and 28V.
Experience and familiarity with MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464.
Familiarity with DC and AC military specifications or commercial power standards including testing requirements
