BAE Systems Engineering Quality Technician III in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Job Description

Performs dimensional and visual inspections on a wide variety of Prototype Network products (vehicles, subassemblies, components) and processes consisting of manufacturing, assembly, test, receiving inspection and packaging/shipping verification. High communication skills in working with a multitude of customers, both internal and external. Must be comfortable working in, around and on vehicles. Must be able to execute to the current Quality Management System (ISO 9001-2015). This is a Quality Technician position in a prototype shop environment. Must be familiar with safety and PPE requirements.

Required Skills and Education

This position requires Quality experience and job knowledge in the following:

  • Safety focused Read and implement Job Safe Practices, general housekeeping and familiar with PPE

  • Inspection to quality requirements & inspection instructions

  • Expertise and knowledge in blue print interpretation, including GD&T

  • Knowledge and experience using measurement and test equipment (MTE), calibration processes to ensure product conformance

  • Liaison communication skills a must. Must be capable of working both independently and in a team environment (shop technicians, engineering, DCMA, management, supply chain)

  • Able to communicate non-conforming situations precisely and accurately. Able to generate non-conformance documentation in accordance with company approved procedures

  • Must be comfortable working in, around and on vehicles

  • Familiar with circuit card assembly

  • Capable to perform shop process & product inspections / audits

  • Fabrication / machining inspection manufactured parts

  • Receiving inspection surface plate inspection

  • Packaging/shipping verification

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

  • Familiar with circuit card assembly

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Familiar with programing and operating CMM machines (FARO Arm and Polyworks software preferred)

  • Familiar with weld inspection

  • Experience with calibration tooling recall

  • Vehicle level assembly / integration

  • Electrical harness inspection

  • Packaging/Shipping verification

  • Computer tools experience (Oracle, TIPQA, etc)
