BAE Systems Principal Contracts Administrator in Stafford, Virginia

Job Description

This position, based in Stafford, VA supports the pursuit, capture and delivery of Combat Vehicles Amphibious programs.


Working within the Contracts Function of the BAE Systems Combat Vehicles Business Unit, this position will be responsible for proposal development, negotiation and management of complex contract activities in support of our Domestic and International pursuits across the Combat Vehicles portfolio of products with particular emphasis on the Amphibious portfolio of vehicles.

The position requires an awareness of a range of contracting methods including US FAR based contracts, direct commercial sale and international contracting. With minimal supervision, the candidate will be responsible for shaping business propositions and contract execution in accordance with company policies.

The development of key relationships with both internal and external customers is critical to the success of the role.


  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of the US Government Acquisition and Procurement environment, the BAE Systems Contracts function and relevant company policies and procedures, commercial contracting methods, FAR/DFARS, export and other government regulations.

  • Independently lead and support proposal activities including, but not limited to; analysis of solicitations, preparing summaries and developing strategies & recommendations with attention to the financial and business risk of the proposed effort.

  • Development of the terms, conditions and assumptions upon which the proposal may be submitted, reviewing the technical and pricing proposals for accuracy and consistency, conducting overall business risk analysis and preparing the proposal documents for submittal to the Customer.

  • Clearance of proposals and subsequent contract management in accordance with BAE Systems corporate governance and contract requirements.

  • Perform all aspects of assigned contract or purchase orderincluding; accuracy of order entry data, contract funding, scope changes, contract amendments, receipts and delivery schedules, legal requirements and other commitments.

  • Serve as primary POC for all contracts, Proprietary Information, & other agreements.

  • Support program personnel & provide advice & counsel.

  • Draft & negotiate program agreements & coordinate legal reviews.

  • Participate in final stages & verify completion of commitments for closeout.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Required education: Bachelors degree plus 8 years of relevant Contract Management or Supply Chain Management experience.

  • Ability to work successfully and productively in a team environment or independently with minimum supervision

  • Develop specialized contracting knowledge in areas such as FAR/DFARS regulations, International Business, Offset and Teaming Agreements.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contractual business arrangements

  • Computer literate, Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work successfully under stress and against constant deadlines

  • Accuracy and attention to detail applying a solid understanding of core contract terminology

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Advance Degree (Masters) in a business related field is desired but not essential.

  • Knowledge and Experience of the US Marine Corps System Command (MARCOSYSCOM) procurement processes and procedures.

  • Experience in Supporting Program Managers, Product Line Managers, and Business Area leads providing contracts advice and counsel as required.
