BAE Systems Geospatial Analyst - Journeyman in Springfield, Virginia

Job Description

BAE Systems has an immediate opening for a Geospatial Analyst. The selected candidate will help enable the warfighters to plan missions, gain battlefield superiority, precisely target the adversary and protect our military forces. The Geospatial Analyst will deliver Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) focused on global hot spots and provide unique insight into critical areas to protect the homeland by supporting counterterrorism efforts.

Utilize an understanding of geography, remote sensing, spatial analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and geospatial production techniques to create information, characterize events, and discover relationships and trends. Obtains imagery, geospatial information, intelligence database and various ancillary sources. Exploits and analyzes geospatial, terrain, and source information. Performs limited feature extraction and attribution, and updates and maintains customer geospatial databases. Produces multi-layered geospatial products to provide visualization and enhanced knowledge in solving intelligence issues. Provide GEOINT reachback support to deployed analyst and deploy overseas up to four months of a year.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

3-10 Years of Geospatial Analysis experience.

Candidate must possess in depth understanding of, and experience using the following:

  • Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS suite

  • Experience with ERDAS and ENVI

  • Imagery Exploitation Software (SOCET GXP, RemoteView) and working knowledge of Cedalion

  • Regular expression usage, temporal expressions, and geospatial representations (datum, projections, and coordinate systems)

  • Network analysis, data management, versioned editing

  • Extract geographic data from satellite imagery, aerial photography and field reconnaissance

  • Create geographic data and compile them into maps

  • General all-source intelligence analysis to include permutations and conversion of geo-database files, shape files, Google Earth KML/KMZ, and CSV files

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Degree in GIS related field.

  • Prior Deployment Experience.

  • Understanding of Activity Based Intelligence.

  • Python (arcpy), VBA program languages and scripting.

  • Experience using ESRI products developing applications in ArcGIS using ArcObjects or MapObjects; modeling with ArcSDE; GIS Server or ArcIMS site development, implementations and maintenance.
