Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to become part of a growing Government Program Office team in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory s (AFRL) Information Directorate in Rome, NY. AFRL is one of the nation s premier government research labs, with a mission of leading the discovery, development, and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for air, space and cyber forces. AFRL s Information Directorate focuses on solutions for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) and Cyber technologies.

Our Collaboration Gateway/Voice and Video Cross Domain Solution (CG/V2CDS) team is responsible for independent testing and successful fielding of software and systems that enable secure, bi-directional cross-domain collaboration (Chat, whiteboard, etc.) and VoIP and video call capabilities that integrate with existing commercial VoIP infrastructure. As an Integration Engineer, you will be required to review software/hardware designs and design specifications, understand and track system requirements, participate in system accreditation and laboratory testing, participate in system installation/configuration at operational locations, document discrepancies, conduct system troubleshooting and take corrective action to ensure operational requirements are met. You will be required to research technologies, approaches, and concepts for potential use as solutions, review and evaluate system designs to ensure User and Functional requirements are satisfied and transitioned into new or improved infrastructures in a technically sound and cost-effective manner.If interested in a multi-faceted, ground-floor opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing organization, this is the position for you.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • BS EE or Computer Science

  • Knowledge of communications technologies such as Voice over IP (VOIP), Video Teleconferencing (VTC)

  • Good communication and customer-relations skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required

  • Eligibility for security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communication Manager (Call Manager)/Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE)Cisco certifications, Cross Domain transfer technologies, video teleconference and other communication technologies (e.g. Polycom) highly desirable, as is a willingness to travel to operational locations (to include overseas). Knowledge of DoD Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes, Risk Mitigation Framework, and DoD 8570 Information Assurance certification also highly desired.
