BAE Systems Engineering Technologist in Rockville, Maryland

Job Description

BAE Systems is currently searching for an entry-level engineer technologist with current or relevant experience working on cable infrastructure and testing for military projects.

Interested candidates must demonstrate familiarity with cable testing, test procedures, and the ability to communicate moderately complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. The candidate will be expected to apply knowledge of and experience with requirements definition and test principles, as well as have the ability to develop test procedures, develop and design cable test interface adapters, and evaluate cabling changes.Typical cable test tasks include the following:

  • Developing requirements, test procedures, Quality Assurance Plans, Configuration Management Plans, and evaluation techniques for new emerging cable test programs,

  • Developing and reviewing documentation to support program needs,

  • Providing on-site test support during cable test program execution,

  • Preparing impact reports,

  • Tracking and resolving problems found during cable testing,

  • Participating in research and investigations as well as special studies,

Specifically, this position will require the development and maintenance of the cable test program. Tasking includes:

  • Develop cable test analysis alternatives for ship weapon system test programs

  • Review and modify existing design documents

  • Create new design documents

The candidate will be expected to work independently, take responsibility and have the aptitude to provide insight to cabling problems and to proposed solutions. The selected individual must possess the ability to present technical problems and status to the customer, have a proactive attitude, and be able to effectively multitask in a fast paced work environment.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required education: High School/GED with6 years of experience

  • Eligible for Secret Security Clearance

  • Basic electronic background

  • Familiar with military projects

  • Experience in requirement development and analysis

  • Experience in test procedure development

  • Experience in research, problem solving, and analysis

  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical information to peers and supervisors

  • Experience with reading cable running sheets, wiring list, and wiring tables

  • Ability to work well as a member of a team or independently

  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office

  • Ability and willingness to travel

Preferred Skills and Education

Fiber Optic testing experience

  • Experience with Navy weapons systems, Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), or NAVSEA

  • Demonstrated experience in Test and Evaluation methodologies includes test planning, execution, and reporting

  • Field site experience supporting the SSBN Test Program

  • Experience with training techniques or previous naval instructor
