BAE Systems Senior Accountant (Fixed Assets) in Reston, Virginia

Job Description


This position is responsible for the accounting and reporting for all fixed assets in the general ledger and sub-ledger systems. Responsibilities includes recording newly acquired Fixed Assets, tracking existing assets, accounting for the disposition of assets, and property tax filings for multiple jurisdictions. This position will also support Internal & External audits, identify areas for process improvement and propose solutions. Candidate must be able to handle large volume of assets. Ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and communicate verbally and in writing. Experience using Deltek System (CostPoint) is preferred.


  • Responsible for maintaining the Fixed Assets Sub ledger in CostPoint including recording new assets; monitoring construction in progress assets, asset transfers, asset disposals, managing CIP, and inventory of fixed assets.-

  • Responsible for reviewing capital requisition requests to identify capitalize-ablenon- capitalize-able cost in accordance with Accounting standards and BAE Systems finance policies and provide guidance related to fixed assets capitalization rules to requestors.

  • Responsible for completing monthly fixed assset reporting, reconciliations between the fixed assets sub-ledger and the general ledger, and generating all journal entries related to fixed assets activities.

  • Complete COSA (Control Owners Self-Assessment) on a timely basis, and assist with Internal/External audits.

  • Participate in the documentation and update of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with BAE Systems, Inc. Financial Policies.

  • Prepare tax related schedules and property tax returns.

  • Assist manager in various projects as assigned, complete various analysis, and ad hoc support.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Deltek CostPoint experience is preferred.
