Job Description

FAST Labs, the research arm of BAE System s Electronic Systems, is seeking a Fall Co-Op/Intern pursuing a career in the field of data analytics who wishes to gain hands-on experience to complement their technical course work. The candidate will be expected to research and analyze data and produce results using data processing applications such as MATLAB.

The Data Analytics Intern will be part of the Sensor Processing and Exploitation (SPX) product line within the Special Activity Exploitation (SAX) research group. SAX is a cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research and engineering organization that is the FAST Labs lead for invention and application of innovative machine learning, control, and optimization approaches to learn patterns of behavior from a wide range of data sources, including real-time sensor feeds. The primary duties and responsibilities for a Data Analytics Intern will be:

  • Perform basic data analysis, including processing, filtering, and visualizing different data sources across multiple domains

  • Develop basic models and evaluate various data processing techniques

  • Analyze and interpret results (typically in MATLAB)

  • Organize and write technical documentation to present results to team

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited 4-year degree program

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Basic understanding of data analysis

  • Basic understanding of MATLAB

  • Familiarity with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Skills and Education

Minimum GPA of 3.0
