BAE Systems Principal Facilities Electrical Engineer in Radford, Virginia
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring a Sr. Facilities Electrical Engineer to support a multi-discipline engineering team at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.
The Sr. Facilities Electrical Engineer is responsible for arc flash compliance support, developing electrical design drawings, scopes-of-work, electrical equipment and material specifications, and preparation of estimates for design and construction. This position includes a mix of maintenance and repair as well as longer life-cycle projects.
In addition, the Sr. Facilities Electrical Engineer will:
o Coordinate bid, award, construction, review and start up activities for electrical upgrades and construction projects.
o Provide technical support to maintenance for production facilities and supervise contractor firms while engaged in project related activities.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology and 6 years experience working in an industrial setting including experience in design and construction or operations and maintenance. May consider closely related degree.
Must have the ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and documents; effectively communicate ideas and instructions to others; possess an understanding of sound design and construction methods; must have knowledge of hazards such as explosives and chemicals and how to safely work in potentially dangerous environments; have extensive knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe work practices; ability to develop electrical design drawings, material lists, scopes of work, and other design package documents; knowledge and experience in instrumentation and controls; understanding of the National Electrical Code and electrical industry standards; Microsoft Office, and general office software.
Ability to develop designs, drawings, scopes-of-work, equipment and material specifications, procurement documentation, construction cost estimates and construction planning. Shall be able to provide technical support for electrical, instrumentation, controls, power distribution systems and general electrical maintenance.
Ability to develop and coordinate preventive maintenance for substations and distribution system
Ability to develop design drawings, scopes-of-work, and equipment specifications
Ability to develop subcontract scopes of work, estimates, and proposals
Ability to develop construction plans
Ability to review design submittals from design firms and subcontractors
Ability to provide technical support to subcontractors and maintenance department related to installation, startup, repair, and operation Inspect construction contractor s work and determine final acceptance
Preferred Skills and Education
Electrical Engineer with 8 years experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems for industrial or chemical plants.-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /->
Arc flash familiarity
Familiar with SKM software or other arc flash modeling software
Professional Engineering License
Possess computer competencies in CAD software
