Job Description

The BAE Systems Weapon Systems site in Radford, VA is seeking a Director of Facilities. The Director of Facilities oversees and manages all assigned Facilities Engineering and Maintenance group activities including site wide water distribution, steam generation, power distribution and industrial sewer system within the Radford, VA location.Provides direct supervision to the various managers across the site ensuring safety and operational readiness. Additionally, the Director will oversee the capital planning and execution process. Oversight also includes successful project management, review of technical progress, evaluation of results, and actions as required; the Director has latitude for unilateral technical actions and decisions.-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /->

Has responsibility for maintenance group activities which may include bargaining unit interaction and understanding of negotiated union contracts;

Ensures the development and implementation of an annual maintenance plan, preventative and cyclical, to ensure success business success;

Develops and manages budgets to include overhead expense, direct funded and capital;

Monitors the use and management of various systems including CMMS and stores management system to ensure maximum utilization of capabilities, efficiency, accurate and timely reports. Confirms all systems associated with building infrastructure and manufacturing equipment are in operational readiness at all times;

Ensures all site project and maintenance activities adhere to proper safety standards, OSHA regulations, ADA compliance, and environmental goals;

Provides leadership and guidance.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

The ideal candidate must:

Possess sound understanding of facilities and maintenance theories and practices in a fast-changing manufacturing environment;

Stay abreast of developments in facilities and maintenance technologies and introduce change accordingly;

Be able to orchestrate team members with differing points of view and capabilities across the site, both within the organization and externally, in an effort to accomplish tasks that harmonize short-term and long-term goals of the site;

Have highly effective management skills in order to provide direct oversight, guidance and vision to the site managers;

Possess highly developed communication skills to articulate and exchange complex information, often of a sensitive nature, amongst all levels of the organization upward to leadership;

Be capable of indirectly overseeing up to 250 employees (both exempt and non exempt)

Understand and convey proper staffing levels as based upon workload and capabilities to support buildings and manufacturing demands;

Exercise analytical thinking skills and practice resourcefulness for additional information while evaluating and attempting resolution of a variety of complex situations;

Have the ability to use conceptual and innovative thinking in identifying solutions to problems and challenges;

Have experience managing budgets of $20M ;

Possess the ability to negotiate, as applicable, with collective bargaining agreement members and strategic partners to ensure work is performed as defined;

Represent as a team leader directing projects/programs/work flow/training.

Preferred Skills and Education

Experience in a chemical processing environment

Experience leading a union workforce.
