BAE Systems Senior Internal Auditor in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Description

Conducts Financial Control Framework Independent Business Testing audits at Ship Repair locations to assess compliance with corporate policies and local procedures. May assist with Independent Business

Testing at other P&S Sector locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts Financial Control Framework Independent Business Testing at various Ship Repair locations. Requires travel to other Ship Repair sites and the ability to work independently. May involve travel to other P&S Sector locations.

  2. Demonstrates proficiency in audit skills and techniques as well as extensive knowledge of the audit function.

  3. Evaluates financial controls, functional processes, and compliance with corporate or external policies and regulations.

  4. Develops clear, concise and thorough audit work papers and written recommendations. Communicates audit recommendations effectively to management at the respective business site to promote continuous improvement.

  5. Maintains Internal Controls Sharepoint site. Assists in the preparation of final audit reports to management.

  6. Recommends improvements to self-assessment tools and evaluates completed control owner self-assessments.

  7. Promulgates best practices and lessons learned across the business.

  8. Assists management in the maintenance of controls over accounting systems in preparation for DCAA Business System Audits.

  9. Assists in the review of policies/procedures and provides guidance/support to site management and employees regarding compliance-related questions and policy interpretation.

  10. Acts as an effective member of the Ship Repair Compliance team and establishes cooperative and positive working relationships within the team and throughout Ship Repair.

Position can be home based at either the San Diego Ship Repair or

Norfolk, VA Ship Repair site.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required education: Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field

2-5 years of experience in Finance, Accounting or Compliance is required

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

Well-organized, disciplined self-starter with intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or with a team on multiple time-sensitive tasks.

Ability to travel other Ship Repair sites is required.

CostPoint and Cognos experience preferred

Knowledge of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards) preferred

Minimum of one year of recent financial internal controls experience is preferred
