BAE Systems Network Operations Center (NOC) Junior Network Engineer in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Description

Provide technical subject matter expertise with resolving ship to shore networking issues across the entire system equipment string and provide direct assistance with planned and contingency communication shifts from one region to another.

Provide technical subject matter expertise and training in support of web sites and home pages.

Assist with implementing authorized Information Assurance (IA) initiatives.

Assist with the validation and execution of system restoral procedures, rapid response for emergent issues, and network documentation and training.

Provide technical subject matter expertise for on-site system design configurations and provide recommendations for improvement or alternative networking strategies.

Provide technical expertise with development and/or modification of site specific Concept of Operations (CONOPS) that govern local and Navy-wide NOC operations.

Provide on-site engineering and technical support for the integration of Information Technology (IT) hardware and software upgrade modifications at NOC/Joint Forces Tactical Operation Center (JFTOC) activities.

Support maintenance of the system architecture configuration and baseline maintenance to meet site program objectives.

Provide technical support to Joint and Fleet exercises and assist with drafting after-action reports that identify potential problems and recommended solutions.

Provide activity based technical and engineering support for process configuration, and recommendations for alternative courses of action to more effectively accomplish the integration of upgrades and modifications of installed equipment.

Support integration and reconfiguration of site upgrades and modifications in support of the command s oversight and testing mission.

The potential for domestic and overseas travel as well as short deployment periods on Navy platforms exists under unique circumstances.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Associate s Degree in Network Services and Computing. In lieu of Associate s degree, two (2) years of Tier II/III maintenance experience with Navy ship to shore networks or relevant DoD network architectures.

Working knowledge of Navy Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and/or Maritime Operations Centers (MOC) or equivalent DoD network operation centers.

Systems level engineering expertise to support C4I systems, including communication systems, data link systems, ashore and afloat networks, network applications, command and control systems, cryptologic devices, and information assurance systems.

Deployable to support Navy operational requirements, exercise support, and other projects to meet the needs of the Navy.

Interim SECRET eligible.

Preferred Skills and Education

Two (2) years of direct experience with Tier II/III maintenance of Navy Consolidated Afloat Networks Enterprise Services (CANES) or Navy Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS)-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /->

Two (2) years of direct experience with Tier II/III maintenance of Navy ONE NET

Working knowledge with wireless network administration

Working knowledge with Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System (CENTRIXS)

Working knowledge with Voice Over IP (VoIP) technologies

Working knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

Working knowledge of CISCO Adaptive Security Appliance

Working knowledge of CISCO Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) administration

Location may also include major Fleet concentration areas: San Diego, CA; Pearl Harbor, HI, Yokosuka, Japan; Bahrain; Naples, Italy
