BAE Systems Value Stream Specialist Weekend Days in Nashua, New Hampshire

Job Description

Please Note this requisition supports our Weekend Day Shift. You will work 3 twelve hour days Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3 AM to 3 PM working 36 hours and being paid for 40 hours plus earn a 10% Shift Premium.

Value Stream Specialist within the factory of assigned responsibility. Monitors indirect expense budgets and implements project plans and schedules, ensures product costs are understood across the value stream and are achieved, and implements process improvements through the development and execution of a comprehensive improvement plan. Leads Kaizen events and teams in an effort to make the company more competitive and more profitable. Responsible for all cost, schedule, and quality issues related to the complete value stream, inclusive of material, ensuring delivered products meet specified standards.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  1. Understands and ensures product costs are achieved within the value stream. Identify areas for cost take out and work with the manufacturing team to identify and implement plans to reduce or eliminate bottlenecks within the value stream. Possesses an unrelenting desire to identify and implement cost take out activities.

  2. Ensures key business metrics are achieved within the factory and drives corrective action when product costs are above targets. Provides support to the factory manager to ensure the Factory Support Allocation (FSA), Utilization, and Indirect Expense targets are achieved. Identifies and resolves performance problems within the value stream.

  3. Provide should cost estimates in support of Operation s proposals to ensure they are competitively costed, accurate, and supportable. Prepares Estimate to Complete/Latest Revised Estimates for the value stream.

  4. Drive product flow and demand pull. Implement flow systems to coincide with TAKT time where applicable. Understand the concepts of factory layouts, line balancing, heijunka, and similar tools to ensure the most efficient flow is achieved.

  5. Provide leadership to the manufacturing personnel by coaching and developing team members as the HEWT philosophy is implemented. Assure the manufacturing team members have the necessary training and the training matrices are updated. Understand the hiring process and train the manufacturing team members to fully participate in the process.

  6. Promote a strong sense of teamwork among personnel throughout and across the value stream. Provides leadership consistent with the Mission and Guiding Principles.

  7. Serve as the focal point to communicate and resolve issues within their value stream and between other factories. Coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary to ensure commitments are achieved. Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.

  8. Provide a single point of contact between Manufacturing and Operations personnel for providing status and resolving problems within the value stream. Presents Operations status to customers, Program Management, and/or Operations Management as required.

  9. Develop a broad cultural understanding of the Lean process, implement Value Stream Tracking Centers and Team Improvement boards within the value stream resulting in factory level ownership. Perform gap analysis relative to the current state and lead the HEWT to the desired result. Initiate and develop a partnership with CI for training and independent assessments within the factory.

  10. Establish the visual factory and empower the manufacturing team to direct, plan, and organize workloads by estimating, scheduling, distributing, and controlling work assignments to provide for a smooth flow of both priority and routine tasks to achieve economical and efficient utilization of personnel and facilities.

  11. Assess the effectiveness of implemented lean improvements and follow up to identify new areas for continuous improvement.

  12. Identifies errors and initiates corrective action and monitors the quality date to ensure the effectiveness of the corrective action. Supports corrective action reviews and participates in identifying root causes and corrective actions within the value stream.

  13. Provides inputs to the Factory Manager for performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions, etc.

  14. Ensures compliance with all safety and health regulations stated by internal company policy and Federal, State, and Local applicable standards.

  15. Performs other related duties as required

Preferred Skills and Education

Demonstrated experience in Driving Manufacturing Throughput.

Experience Manufacturing Flow and Production Planning

Sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers.
