Job Description

BAE Systems is looking to hire a Senior Business Development Director within the Electronic Combat Solutions (ECS) Business Area in Nashua, NH. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development for the ES Sector and will support the VP/GM of the ECS Business Area. A primary responsibility of this role is to grow the orders pipeline within ECS through the creation, identification and qualification of quality opportunities.

Role will be key in the development of new business strategies, execution of multiple marketing approaches, collaboration on product and technical roadmaps. Role will require frequent customer contacts, and a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements. Working with PLD s and key program area directors/ managers, will shape and drive investment/ growth roadmap. Develop and execute a plan to fill orders pipeline with qualified opportunities that support the Business Areas strategic plan to outperform the market.

  1. Grow the orders pipeline within ECS through the creation, identification and qualification of quality opportunities

  2. Refine and support the ECS Business Development process and methodology

  3. Aggressively seek new business opportunities that are consistent with both the Business Area and Sector strategies by leveraging current technologies, customer intimacies, and intercompany collaboration opportunities

  4. Collaborate on the growth of advanced technologies and capabilities to support future customer needs

  5. Support ES Business Development requirements through training, development, data requests, strategy meetings, and networking opportunities

  6. Function as a member of the Business Development leadership team and pivotal member of the functional organization

  7. Function as a member of the business leadership team to improve business execution/management and define growth strategies and opportunities

  8. Mentor and develop Business Development team members and program managers assigned to ECS Business Area

  • Active Top Secret clearance

  • Proven ability to grow the IBP with quality orders

  • Shaping, identification, qualification and creation of new business opportunities

  • Prioritization of new business opportunities and resources to be applied

  • Creation and development of individual opportunity marketing plans and capture strategies, as well as for the campaign level marketing and strategies

  • Ability to capture and win new business

  • Problem Solving and analytical skills to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations, without supervision

  • Ability to hire, mentor, coach and train BD Directors/Managers and business area personnel to support business growth

  • Capable of tailoring business winning processes and leveraging business winning tools (Price-to-win) to ensure lean, effective business winning

  • Ability to collaborate/partner with BAE Systems, Industry partners and our customers

  • Be a trusted advisor to the Business Area VPGM and the Sector VP of BD

Preferred Skills and Education

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :

  • Master s degree and 20 years of experience in leadership roles

  • Active Top Secret with SSBI

  • Former experience in defense acquisition process as an end user

  • Phase review chairman certified or ability to quickly obtain certification

  • Shipley assessed Capture Team Lead Belt

  • BD Lead for large competitive opportunities valued at >$500M (pre phase O thru 1B)

  • Performed as a Capture Team Leader for opportunities >$500M

  • Built effective communications budgets, strategies and plans to include trade shows, billboards, print and videos

  • Must be able to quickly and firmly grasp industry trends in particular acquisition policy

Team Leader Experience :

  • Successfully led a business development team of at least 10 members

  • Experience designing and executing large business area strategies and associated campaigns

  • Detailed knowledge of the BAE phase review process, able to apply that knowledge

  • Understands and able to assist with building the Integrated Business Plan

  • Experience selling to all of DoD: Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy

  • Must have a deep comprehension of How Washington Works
