BAE Systems Optical Product Engineer in Nashua, New Hampshire

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an Entry Level Optical Product Engineer to support manufacturing and testing in its Nashua, NH facilities. This position will include the following activities:

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing while troubleshooting Lasers and electro-optical systems and their subcomponents.

  • Real time resolution of on-floor problems and dispositioning of hardware accordingly to ensure timely movement of quality products.

  • Conduct or support system and sub-system testing to validate compliance to requirements.

  • Interface with Engineering and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause and implement corrective action.

  • Generate and implement continuous improvements in build and test processes to reduce cost, increase throughput and ensure Producibility of designs

  • Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation associated with the design.

  • Support manufacturing and test equipment maintenance.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or similar technical degree with Optical focus.

Required skills:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of optical test equipment such as spectrometers, collimators, alignment telescopes, cameras and beam profilers, etc..

-The candidate must have strong hands-on skills and have the ability and desire to work in a manufacturing environment including class, 100, 1000 and 10000 clean rooms.

  • The candidate must have strong analysis and problem solving skills with the ability to identify and solve problems pro-actively (not reactive).

  • Must be highly motivated and have experience in leadership and team building skills, along with strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Must work well with others - understand the operations organization structure, understand the factory team, and optimize your relationship with these people.

-Must be a US citizen eligible for a DOD security clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering or similar technical degree with Optical focus and aTechnical Internship or Co-op rotation in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and software development on these platforms.

  • Proficient with Microsoft office Excel for data processing and chart generation.

  • Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX operating systems

  • Familiarity with test and analysis software such as Lab view, Matlab, Zemax, Solidworks and/or other similar software toolsets
