Job Description

The Advanced Microwave Products (AMP) Center is searching for a well-organized, incisive individual with a vibrant personality to lead a high rate, low mix Value Stream. The Amp Line specializes in the high rate production of High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), utilizing state of the art Gallium Nitride (GaN) technologies.

The Value Stream Manager will:

  • Sustain product flow, and ensure that the correct resources are assigned to most efficiently move product, within, and between manufacturing cells

  • Ensure that Key Process Indicators (KPIs) are met, and metrics are posted within the manufacturing cells

  • Attaining Quality, Schedule, and Cost objectives are your principal objectives

  • Drive Zero Defects, and Continuous Improvement initiatives as an individual, and in teams

  • Provide leadership to the team on the floor, taking charge of issues intrinsic to the Value Stream

  • Reaching outward to external customers with respect to production planning, problem resolution, and corrective actions based on Root Cause Problem Solving Analysis (RCPS)

  • Supervisory responsibilities inclusive of managing 20 employees, in accordance with the organization s policies.

  • Interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints, and resolving relational issues.

  • Participates with the Factory Manager in the analysis and strategic planning of factory capacity, tooling, and other resources

  • Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including material planning, total quality management (TQM), equipment preventative maintenance scheduling, facilities engineering, process engineering, and equipment calibration

  • Provides staffing recommendations, maintains organizational charts, and makes adjustments based on future workloads (Utilize company systems (RCCP) loading and forecasting)

  • Maintains staff utilization to be >86%; seek out other work when we have excess capacity or down time

  • Play a major role in maintaining budgets: Identifying and resolving production issues expediently

  • Ensure compliance to all Safety, Health, and Energy (SHE) regulations

  • Perform What If Scenarios for scheduling options, Budgets (EAC & ETC), staffing, and rate manufacturing

  • Strong communication to the team on expectations, priorities, policies, and daily team varying challenges

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Familiarity with Lean and/or Six Sigma principles

  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel)

  • Manufacturing supervision experience in a multi-program and fast-paced environment

  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel at all levels of the organization

  • Solid skills in problem solving, statistics, manufacturing, electronics

  • Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Preferred Skills and Education

Lean and/or Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)

Cleanroom, FOD, and ESD Protocols

Knowledge of MIL-883, IPC-A-610, IPC-6018, J-STD-001

Microscope working knowledge up to 500X

MMIC Familiarity (features, construction, uses)

RF Microwave Theory

Applications of SPC, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing (7S)
