Works from complex drawings, diagrams, schematics and/or verbal instructions requiring interpretation to plan the layout of complicated electro-mechanical devices, systems or subsystems.
Works from conceptual sketches, schematics and/or oral instructions to fabricate, assemble and/or modify electro-mechanical prototype devices, systems and subsystems.
Suggests, plans and assists in the design of electro-mechanical devices, jigs and/or fixtures to be incorporated into developmental systems. Assists in solving problems associated with the electro-mechanical devices, systems or subsystems. Recommends and implements modifications or improvements to process.
Operating from engineering inputs, provides support in development and/or preparation of complicated schematics, sketches, specifications, parts and wire lists and methods sheets.
Identifies areas for potential troubleshooting/testing and makes recommendations to appropriate engineering personnel and/or technicians. Adjusts, aligns, calibrates and modifies complex electro-mechanical devices and/or developmental units under the general direction of engineering personnel.
Instructs, aids and checks the work of lower classified employees.
Required Skills and Education
Requires a General Academic Education and eight (8) years diverse Assembly experience including two (2) years directly related experience as a Fabrication Technician. Requires certification in soldering, wire wrap, CCA assembly and cable and harness assembly. Instruction in schematic reading, basic electronics and understanding Engineering Drawing Systems/Practices required and/or equivalent formal training
