BAE Systems Director - Supplier Quality Operations in Nashua, New Hampshire

Job Description

This position will lead teams of Supplier Quality professionals responsible for development and oversight execution of a lean supply chain to produce outstanding quality results, high order fulfillment rates and timely delivery. Supports the enterprise in driving quality, improved affordability, efficiency, and supply base performance with supplier partners including Strategic Sourcing initiatives aligned with Company-wide goals and objectives. The ability to effectively collaborate with functional organizations across Electronic Systems is necessary for success.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience with and an understanding of sourcing and execution management in Aerospace and Defense, across DoD, International and selected Commercial procurements. Ability to navigate from broad enterprise and strategic sourcing plans to directing day-to-day team actions needed to support near term business and program needs is required.

A leader able to build strong supplier relationships and leverage common processes to establish agreements and drive performance is critical. The candidate will also help their team understand the tools and tactics to apply to prevent problems during start up and development activities, as well as corrective actions and mistake-proofing during production phases to assure business success. Recruiting and coaching of team members and development of their technical, quality science/L6S and quality systems skills will be required.

  • As part of the Supplier Quality leadership team, contribute to the design and implementation of Supply Chain oversight models to support business growth and improvement strategies integrated with Business Areas. Refine and execute strategic distribution and commodity oversight plans, in collaboration with team members and internal business partners. Improve responsiveness to internal customers to meet service level expectations for incoming materials, cycle time, and dock to stock/point of use programs, while optimizing overall operating expenses.

  • Partner with key suppliers to achieve superior quality performance, balancing risk and cost to develop mutually beneficial relationships that ensure long term success for both parties.

  • Identify and qualify potential preferred suppliers who provide the necessary technology and materials, which support strategy and business plans. Drive and ensure suppliers are held accountable for meeting zero defect initiatives both from a strategic and tactical perspective focusing on quality improvements

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to leaders, team members, stakeholders and preferred suppliers. Integration with Supply Chain/Supplier Partnerships leaders is essential to insure coordinated actions and messaging with suppliers.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor s degree and a minimum of 14 years related experience

  • Technical knowledge of aerospace and defense electronics commodities

Uses time effectively, prioritizes and organizes work flow; can orchestrate multiple activities at once. Agility and personal adaptability with the ability to successfully management multiple priorities with a high sense of urgency in a rapidly changing environment

  • Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data. Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence others and affect results, with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media.

  • Executive presence and established communication skills; experience presenting information to senior leadership and/or executive level leaders.

  • Be skilled at handling multiple competing priorities with the ability to prioritize effectively to achieve timely results and organizational / individual goals.

  • Be willing to travel approximately up to 50% of the time

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma

  • Experience with APQP & PPAP requirements and supply chain implementation.

  • Active Secret or higher clearance

  • Technical MS and MBA degrees
