BAE Systems' Microelectronics (Microwave) campus of factories is scheduled to experience tremendous growth over the next decade. The Microwave leadership team currently has an opening for a Value Stream Specialist on 2nd Shift to help support this expansion.

This position will support primarily the Microwave West Factory.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job.)

  • Supervises 2nd shift manufacturing for all cells in the Microwave West Factory for the TAC-AIR and IEWS Product Lines

  • Establishes a standard work schedule that involves crisp communication between shifts

  • Coordinates shift huddles to discuss productivity, defects, and delivery metrics for each cell in the Factory

  • Coordinates staffing and training strategies to meet the Microwave Campus' growth requirements. This includes evaluating resumes to qualify candidates on such factors as job experience, knowledge, strength of job knowledge and referrals.

  • Ensuring such candidates are appropriately on boarded and trained in not only their job function, but also in the BAE Systems' culture

  • Provide leadership to the staffing and training personnel by coaching and developing team members. Assure the team members have the necessary training and the training matrices are updated. Understand the hiring process and train the manufacturing team membersto fully participate in the process.

  • Assist with any on boarding or capability training as the situation warrants.

  • Promote a strong sense of teamwork among personnel throughout and across the value stream. Provides leadership consistent with the Mission and Guiding Principles.

  • Establish staffing and training metrics. Track performance against metrics providing action based plans to close any gaps. Assess the effectiveness of implemented lean improvements and follow up to identify new areas for continuous improvement.

  • Provides inputs to the Product Stream Manager for performance evaluations, merit increases, promotions, etc.

  • Ensures compliance with all documentation, safety and health regulations stated by internal company policy and Federal, State, and Local applicable standards for the on boarding and training are being met

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience

Demonstrated leadership ability

Experience in sourcing and training efforts

Computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents

Sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company and cross functional personnel

Preferred Skills and Education

Demonstrated experience in implementing change and developing teams

Experience with Lean Systems and/or Six Sigma
