Job Description

BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES) sector is looking for candidates to join our Optical Engineering team starting in Summer of 2018. Our mission is We protect those who protect us , and as an Optical Engineering Intern in Electronic Systems, you will develop your engineering skills while helping us protect the brave men and women in our armed forces, intelligence communities and first responders.

This internship will be at BAE Systems in southern New Hampshire. The internship is a paid internship and has a work schedule that includes every other Friday off.

Some of the responsibilities of a Technical Intern III include:

  • Support Senior Engineering personnel in the development, testing and selection of basic optical components utilizing fundamental optical engineering principles, theories and techniques.

  • Participate in hands-on opportunities supporting the assembly, alignment and testing of design hardware.

  • Prepare charts, diagrams and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific plans.

Required Skills and Education

  • Required Education: High School/GED

  • Currently Pursuing Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Optics Related Field

  • GPA 3.0 or higher

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Desire to perform hands-on work

  • Experience with interferometric testing and optical system alignment and measurements

  • Familiarity with lab or manufacturing environments

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills
