Performs extremely complex assembly or modification tasks on electronic and mechanical components, subassemblies and systems. May provide technical support for Engineers working in a research or design/development environment

Required Skills and Education

  1. Assembles, disassembles, modifies, reworks and repairs various preproduction and production subassemblies, assemblies and complete electrical and mechanical systems by interpreting schematic diagrams, technical drawing packages (i.e., ECO's, parts lists, etc.), blueprints, process sheets or other specifications and using correct tooling and machinery. Inspects results to ensure conformance with requirements using precision measuring equipment and performs rework as needed.

  2. Identifies the reason for units failing by using test failure sheets (squawk sheets) and performs the necessary repair operations.

  3. Verifies producibility of products during the first piece process and prototype fabrication.

  4. Fabricates complex assemblies utilizing build-to-print skills to meet production, engineering and prototype requirements.

  5. Performs complex ECO/PRN rework associated within the area confines. This includes repairing printed wiring board circuits, cuts and jumpers, drilling, epoxy repair of circuit cards, etc.

  6. Cross-trains and checks work of other assembly positions.

  7. Performs tasks of lower level assembler job descriptions as needed.

  8. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Preferred Skills and Education

Requires four (4) to five (5) years of electronic assembly experience. Must achieve specified solder certifications in various assembly/soldering techniques per Company and customer standards. Able to interpret and use wire lists, schematic diagrams, process sheets/route cards, and technical drawing package (i.e., ECO's and PRN's). Able to make complex assemblies utilizing build-to-print skills. Able to use small hand tools and complex tooling (i.e., Hot Gas reflow machines, hot plates, and drills). Able to set-up and operate various equipment (i.e., CS-600 insertion, forming tools, Ovens, Screen printers, SMT machines, Cleaners, Braker riveting machines, and bonding equipment). Able to use measurement tools and devices such as using micrometers and calipers. Able to perform simple testing. Able to cross-train and instruct other assembly positions.
