BAE Systems is seeking Electro Optical Systems Engineering candidates specializing in the verification and validation and integration and test phases of systems development. The candidate will be a vital part of a high performance team of engineers team working on the development of leading edge capabilities in electro optical systems. Candidates must possess an in depth working knowledge of the tools, techniques, and processes needed to measure the performance of both passive and active electro optical systems and must have experience in integrating these types of systems onto at least one of ground, air, space, surface or submerged test platforms. The successful candidate will be serve as an individual contributor within the Optical Systems Capability Group that is responsible for the design, development, implementation and test of electro optical solutions that range from research and development prototypes to full rate production systems.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Demonstrated success in working in a multi-disciplinary team including mechanical, electrical, software, and optical engineers.
Experience in the verification and validation of performance requirements for electro-optical systems
Development of testing techniques and procedures
Establish traceability between test data collection and analysis and requirements
Experience in the integration and test of electro-optical systems in one or more of the following environments:
Laboratory breadboard/brassboard testing
Static testing on an environmentally uncontrolled field/range
Ground vehicle, surface or subsurface vessels, aircraft, or spacecraft in dynamic conditions
Demonstrated knowledge of electro-optical test equipment including radiometrically calibrated sensors and sources at one or more bands of the electro-optical spectrum (UV-VIS-SWIR-MWIR-LWIR)
Currently possess or have possessed within the previous 2 years a Secret clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
Familiarity with laws, regulations, and approval processes required for installation and operation of electro-optical systems onone or moreof the following:
Ground vehicles operating on public highways
Aircraft (fixed wind and/or rotary) operating under FAA approval with standard or special airworthiness certificates
Surface vessels or submarines
History in developing and presenting documentation packages necessary and sufficient for platform modifications and system installation on the previously listed platform types.
Demonstrated knowledge of Laser Hazard analysis and familiarity with ANSI Z136.1 Safe Use of Lasers standard
Eligible for and willing to undergo the investigation to obtain a Top Secret clearance
