Job Description

The Intelligence & Security Sector is seeking a junior Solution Architect to support software engineering and cyber security solution development across the sector. This position will report to the lead cyber solution architect and the Director of Solution Architects for the Sector.

The Solution Architect (SA) will serve as a technical subject matter expert in the software engineering domain, and gain extensive knowledge in cyber security, including secure software development. The SA is a member of a team of technical experts and will be given opportunities to lead and grow. The position will develop technical solutions in response to Government requests for information, market surveys, and requests for proposal. The SA will contribute to development of technical solutions and will contribute to management, staffing, schedule, and cost solutions.

The SA will be expected to build and maintain deep technical expertise, as well as developing winning solutions. The SA will participate in early phase marketing, such as concept development, white paper generation, and directed research, and may direct research or intern teams to develop or enhance key capabilities enabling expansion into new lines of business.

Duties and Responsibilities include leading and developing cyber solutions, understanding critical customer program goals, and developing winning, best-value solutions. The SA will develop skills as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in these technologies, and develop additional, adjacent skills. The SA may be given oversight of other staff and interns to accomplish prototypes and product evaluations, develop proofs-of-concept, and perform analysis of alternatives. The SA must be able to develop a technical solution and communicate it to a proposal, management, and cost team, and lead development of successful proposals through the business winning lifecycle. The SA may be asked to serve as a public face for BAE Systems I&S in their area of expertise, and to collaborate across BAE Systems. Strong written and verbal communications skills are a must.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Experience supporting large-scale software and cyber systems engineering efforts, comprising a diverse team of technical and operational specialists, and involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions,

  • Demonstrated ability to decompose complex system and software requirements into easy to understand solutions with clear value propositions.

  • Knowledge of modern Agile software development methodologies.

  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value and benefit of BAE Systems solutions.

  • Broad, well-defined software development lifecycle skills.

  • Strong interest in software assurance and cyber lifecycle elements.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Knowledge of current software development technologies, deployment models, and cloud native design principles.

  • Knowledge of software development methodologies including Agile, team, pair programming, and waterfall, with experience using multiple software languages and tool sets.

  • AWS Certified Associate Architect, Developer or SysOps Administrator.

  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator in Cloud Platform or related certification.

  • Agile Certification.

  • CISSP, CEH, or other Cyber certification.

  • Master s in Cyber Security or Software Engineering, certificate in Cloud Engineering.
