BAE Systems Weld Manufacturing Engineering Intern for Summer 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky

Job Description

This position is for a paid full-time Weld Manufacturing Engineering Intern during Summer 2019. This position will be located in Louisville, Kentucky, at our Weapons Systems site.

Provides technical support to manufacturing and related functions. Researches, develops, and improves manufacturing processes, methods, and systems for products, facilities, fixtures, equipment, and/or materials. Develops and tests work methods and procedures, ensuring performance and quality of materials, and products to meet specifications and standards. Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer and company technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met. Ability to read and interpret military specs pertaining to welding.

Required Skills and Education

Completion of at least six semesters toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

-Must have basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant technical knowledge of welding and fabrication.

-Basic computer proficiency.

-Ability to work under direct supervision and follow standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.

-Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, in writing, and in person.

-Ability to work effectively with others.

-Ability to pay attention to details.

Preferred Skills and Education

Minimum GPA of a 3.0 required.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic engineering design and/or analytical theory, principles, techniques, and practices to a limited portion of a technical project to include; Metals processing, welding and fabrication.

  • Experience using software such as AutoCAD

-Develops and writes technical documentation, makes revisions to existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. Ability to set up, organize, and populate Manufacturing Engineering production information using Microsoft Access, Excel and Project.

-Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems and implement solutions of limited complexity.

-Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules.

-Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
