BAE Systems Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor in Louisville, Kentucky
Maintenance Supervisor (1st Shift)- Oversee union multi-craft personnel in the timely and effective preventive and corrective maintenance of heavy machinery:
Works independently to define priorities and direct multi-craft bargaining unit personnel in the daily preventive and corrective maintenance of heavy manufacturing machines to ensure machine tolerances are maintained while minimizing production delays;
Maintains databases and process documents as necessary to ensure appropriate asset management of all production equipment;
Contacts and coordinates outside vendors to contract expertise as needed for machine calibrations and repair;
Responds immediately to all production equipment repair needs to ensure adequate and appropriate resources are applied to attain a goal of 95% machine uptime;
Works closely with Operations Line Supervisors, Production Scheduling, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to coordinate downtime for machine calibrations and preventive maintenance to ensure minimal impact to production schedule;
Tracks and trends Preventive Maintenance scheduled completions to ensure 95% on-time completion rate;
Briefs Maintenance Mgr daily on priorities and activities associated with production machine downtime and bargaining unit crafts status;
Meets with 2 nd shift Maintenance Supervisor daily to communicate priorities and activities for shift turnover;
Oversees all maintenance activities to ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all BAE Systems safety and maintenance procedures, and OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other applicable regulatory guidelines to attain 0 recordable accidents and 0 lost day accidents;
Champions continuous improvement, meets daily with cross functional teams to ensure Operational Excellence;
Maintains status boards daily to ensure visible, accurate, and timely production machine status;
Reviews and approves all completed work orders for quality, accuracy and completeness and closes out work orders in compliance with BAE Systems procedures.
Responsible for all aspects of Maintenance Bargaining Unit craftsmen worktime management including timecard verification, vacation requests, disciplinary action, paygrade advancement, training, tools, vehicle usage, and work schedules;
Accountable to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager for compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, and all applicable BAE Systems procedures;
Weekend work and overtime as scheduled or as required to support ongoing projects/ maintenance activities.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Team player with a high sense of urgency and ownership; leader with high level of experience leading union personnel in a maintenance environment; experience operating and/ or maintaining high precision rotating machinery; knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E regulatory/ safety guidelines; highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; capable of learning Oracle database; experience generating written instructions to guide maintenance activities; calm under pressure; capable of juggling multiple priorities simultaneously; excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Skills and Education
4 year college degree; 5 years within a union environment; 5 years in a leadership position directing personnel activities; knowledgeable of Oracle.
