Job Description

The BAE Systems Weapon Systems site in Louisville, KY is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager Machining. The Machining Manufacturing Engineering Manager oversees and manages all assigned Machining Engineering group activities including development of NC Multi-Axis CNC machine shop operations, Programming utilizing Siemens NX, CNC cutting tooling specifications and procurement, fixture design, sourcing and acquisition, machinist work instructions and job routings. Additionally, the Machining Engineering Manager will oversee the capital planning and execution process,directing and executing all the technical strategy for the plant, sustaining initiatives for the manufacturing facility, and manage all aspects of the manufacturing process development including the identification, procurement, installation and startup of the equipment.

  • 7-10 years of increasingly responsible supervisory/management experience in engineering & manufacturing

  • Substantial knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is desirable, preferably in the defense or automotive industry

  • Understanding of basic engineering principles and fabrication

  • Able to plan manufacturing production schedules in accordance with production timeline

  • Strong commitment to quality, safety and production goals.

  • Able to embrace change and participate in continuous improvement of manufacturing processes

  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • High degree of initiative and motivation to help lead and develop teams and manage diverse work groups

  • Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.

  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Familiar with Siemens NX Multi-axis CNC machine shop operations: fixtures, programming, tooling and set-up

Experience with raw material and equipment logistics and ability to read complex component prints and drawings

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Project, Power Point and Outlook

Preferred Skills and Education

Bachelor s degree in Engineering in the related field of study in Mechanical / Manufacturing or Industrial Technology, preferred.

7-10 years experience in a CNC environment

Program/Project management (PMP a plus)

Equipment Specifications and Procurement highly desirable

Leading the creation of ROMs, BOE and quoting

Experience managing a team in a manufacturing environment
