BAE Systems Operations Manager in Jacksonville, Florida
Responsible for all production welding activities in execution of ship repair and/or ship conversion: planning, organizing, and scheduling,.
Directly leads and manages supervisor within Sheet Metal and Plate Shop.
Operates with considerable latitude for actions or decisions, independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision from Director of Operations.
Manages multiple sheet metal and plate shop projects while meeting rigorous performance standards and demanding schedules.
Evaluates personnel on clear and well-defined objectives in a fair and consistent manner.
Monitors daily weekly targets and resolves constraints.
Ensures sheet metal and plate shop are completed within budgeted labor and material costs.
Reviews and approves recommended methods and procedures for improving safety, quality and productivity.
Assist the Director of Operation that plant facilities and equipment are available and in place to accomplish work associated with each projects.
Ensures operations are conducted safely, and in a manner that protects company assets and the environment.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
The candidate must have a significant amount of operations experience managing technical and skilled craft employees. Must have experience in ship repair, modernization and overhaul on the U.S. Navy's most complex surface ship platforms. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and managing activities of assigned department work center(s). Provide interdepartmental coordination of company operations. Ensure the Production Department's conformance to the company quality policy in accordance with customer and company requirements.
Bachelor s Degree and 15 year(s) related experience
