BAE Systems Senior FPGA Design Engineer in Hudson, New Hampshire

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for an FPGA Design Engineer to support their Precision Guided Sensing Solutions Product line. The individual must be a self-starter with development experience working with complex integrated military avionics/electronic hardware and related test equipment. The engineer will work closely with hardware integrated into imaging, missile and guided munitions systems. The engineer will be responsible for developing robust hardware solutions and leverage their electrical engineering expertise in the design of FPGA/CPLD architectures, reverse engineer legacy designs, and laboratory test and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design and architecture of complex digital subsystems in support of next generation technologies and products. This includes the initial system conceptual design, prototyping, validation and test. Ability to map complex algorithms into FPGAs for applications in the fields of digital signal processing and digital image processing.

The selected electrical engineer is expected to have applicable experience in the following areas:

Digital design and troubleshooting in the area of embedded processors, microcontrollers, and VHDL based FPGAs that provide capability and functionality to a larger system

Candidate must be able to implement algorithms in FPGAs from Matlab or C code

Experience with state-of-the-art electrical engineering design tools

Strong hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment, and processes

Working experience with Interface standards including military/avionics communication buses (i.e. ARINC-429, RS-422, Mil-Std-1553, GigE, Ethernet)

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities in a team environment with strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience in the design, test, debug and fielding of FPGAs

Knowledge of VHDL / Verilog and HDL Coder

Experience with Xilinx Vivado or Quartus toolset

Experience with Questasim Simulators

Experience with Matlab / Simulink

Strong laboratory experience with instrumentation, equipment and processes.

Motivated self-starter and problem solver with proven experience executing in diverse multi-disciplinary teams

Strong computer skills in basic MS office and technical programs

Solid fundamentals of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards

Preferred Skills and Education

Familiarity with image and signal processing algorithms

Working experience of interface standards including PCIe, Ethernet and military/avionics communication buses.

Current hands-on experience with Cadence state-of-the-art electrical engineering development tools

Matlab/Simulink toolset experience
