BAE Systems Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) System Engineer in Hudson, New Hampshire

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) engineer for a position in Hudson, NH to work on the fire control system for a variety of weapon platforms. Responsibilities include design, implementation, and test of respective GN&C subsystems in a model based design environment (e.g., Simulink). Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink, Fortran, C is highly desired. An active Secret security clearance is required.

This is considered a mid-career individual contributor role for someone with roughly 10-15 years of experience with an MS degree.

Required Skills and Education

Experience with a high-level programming language such as Matlab/Simulink, Fortran or C . Proficient with mathematical modeling of GN&C sensors/actuators, target tracking, and performance analysis of weapon to target engagement systems at all phases (i.e., launch, mid-course, and terminal)

MS degree in Aero/ME or EE from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 10-15 years of professional experience; or 10 years of professional experience with a related Ph. D. degree in Estimation and Control areas.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink, Fortran, C with preferred skills in Simulink and HDL toolboxes for DSP and/or FPGA in the loop

  • Proficiency with fire control sensors and G&C algorithms (i.e., proportional navigation (PN) based guidance and control system theory such as LQR based design methodologies). Knowing advanced G&C algorithms such as State Dependent Ricatti Equation (SDRE) based or sliding mode control based design methodologies is a plus.

  • Familiar with 6DOF and closed-loop G&C design with experience in selecting/sizing sensors (e.g., seeker and IMU) and actuator/control actuation system authority (e.g., fin/canard or control surfaces) for high performance engagement design and analyses

  • Familiar with target tracking subsystem and Extended Kalman filter (EKF) for object state estimation

  • Experience with Inertial Navigation System with EKF design is a plus but not required

  • Good communication skills
