Job Description

BAE Systems Hawaii Shipyards is hiring an Apprentice 4 in our Crane/Rigging Department. This job is an entry level Rigger position. This candidate will be working with high level certified riggers and will be assigned specific tasks. This job will require you to work indoors and outdoors and also require you to work in all different weather conditions. This job will require you to be able to pass a certified rigging course.

Required Skills and Education

Must be

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam

  • Must be a US citizen or Naturalized citizen

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED

  • Must be able to work all shifts, weekends and overtime, as requiredMust be able to board ships

  • Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces with limited visibility

  • Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights

  • Must be able to work outdoors under all weather conditions

  • Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment

  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate

  • Must be able to understand verbal or written instructions given and to perform correctly

  • Must be able to complete timecards correctly

  • Knowledgeable of Shipyard safety regulations

  • Must have a valid driver s license

  • Familiar with shipboard terms, nomenclature and location

  • Familiar with terminology used in the trade

  • Able to identify the various shop equipment and purpose

  • Knowledgeable of proper manual lifting techniques

  • Able to effectively assist employees of a higher classification within the department

Preferred Skills and Education

To be able to correctly tie Bowline, square and clove hitch knots
