BAE Systems Craft Foreperson Shipfitter/ Welder (Night Shift) in Honolulu, Hawaii
BAE Systems Hawaii Shipyards is looking for a Craft Foreperson for the Welding/Shipfitting Department.Supervises Leadperson and Journeyperson to assure jobs are completed on time, within budget, with requisite quality, and in an accident free environment.Assists in project planning, organizes workflow and resources, and coordinates activities with other departments.May direct the ordering of material for the project, assigns personnel to Leadperson, plans overtime requirements, and assigns jobs to Leadperson and Journeymen.Supports and promotes BAE Systems Hawaii Shipyards policies and programs while maintaining a safe work environment.This position is specifically for the night shift, but must have the flexibility to work all shifts, weekends and overtime as needed.
Key Job Responsibilities
Assign Leadperson to projects or tasks and monitor their performance.Ensure that all inspections, reports, and check points are accomplished in a timely manner.
Generate required reports, conduct inspections and perform check points in a timely manner.
Oversee and manage effective use of personnel and equipment.
Interpret priorities and direct Leadperson and Journeymen efforts.
Enforce by word and action safety and environmental rules and company policies and procedures, and recommend disciplinary action of employees when required.
Investigate and communicate to management any and all situations that involve injury, loss, damage, and rework.
Responsible for ensuring that high standards of housekeeping are met.
Review and sign all departmental time cards.
Respond to any assignments directed by management or special projects.
Perform similar, incidental and other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Naturalized Citizen
Must be able obtain and maintain base access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends and overtime, as required
High School or GED equivalent
1-5 years of supervisory experience within the respective department
Must possess Journeyperson skill level
Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and weld symbols
Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
Good communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Must be able to board, ships, enter confined spaces with limited visibility and have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights
Must be able to work outdoors under all weather conditions
Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment
Must have valid driver's license
Preferred Skills and Education
Knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, welding processes.
Knowledge of 5 XXX aluminum and fitting practices.
