Job Description

The 800 BAE Systems, Inc. (BAE ) employees in the Air Force Solutions-Strategic Systems Directorate support the United States Air Force (USAF) Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System Directorate as it sustains the existing LGM-30 Minuteman III (MM III) weapon system and acquires its replacement, the Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD). BAE is an integral part of the team that ensures a safe, secure land-based portion of the nuclear triad as required by Air Force Global Strike Command through 2030 for the MMIII, and for the GBSD from its IOC at that time until 2075. The Integration Support Contract (ISC) not only assists in acquisition and technical sustainment engineering, but also helps train and develop this capability in the government for the long-term. This contract augments organic DoD resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, operations and logistics interfaces, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration/Validation programs.

Position will be located at Hill AFB, Utah.

The individual will support the ISC GBSD Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Group in support of USAF GBSD Program Systems Engineering Division activities. GBSD is a replacement for the MM III ICBM weapon system including ground, flight, and command & control elements.

The position supports a growing team of multi-disciplinary Systems Engineers. Tasks will include:

  • Managing day-to-day tasks, schedules, meetings, and actions for ISC and Gov t Systems Engineering Division, Group, Branch, and Team leads.

  • Acting as a Peer Reviewer alongside other Systems Engineering leaders for modeling, simulation and analysis products, codes, and activities; systems engineering documentation, including processes, plans, guides, and reports; and review of personnel and other resourcing decisions within the SE&I Group.

  • Researching and reporting on System Engineering state-of-the-art solutions, activities, programs, and applications to advance the overall Program Sys Engr enterprise.

  • Comprehending and coordinating efforts across a wide range of acquisition-oriented systems engineering disciplines, including: facilities, cyber, materials, software, energetics, electronics, structures, networks, and nuclear environments.

  • Learning and applying Model Based (Systems) Engineering approaches to documenting requirements, planning and coordinating activities, and performing configuration management.

  • Acting for and representing the ISC GBSD SE&I Group Manager when needed.

This position will conduct PM duties for the ISC GBSD SE&I Group Manager, at the direction of the USAF GBSD Engineering Division Chief within the GBSD Program Office Systems Engineering Branch.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree.

  • Active Secret clearance.

  • 8 years PM experience with industry or government.

  • Strong task management skills, including experience managing teams/programs with special emphasis on meeting engineering challenges.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Demonstrated comfort working under stressful conditions, aggressive schedules, variable workloads, and shifting priorities.

  • Able to help implement strategic customer guidance with minimal day-to-day direction.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • MBA, or MS or PhD in a technical field.

  • Active Top Secret clearance.

  • Documented DoD acquisition experience, i.e. DAU certifications.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience with ICBM or other missile systems, including Sys Engr or MS&A activities.

  • Experience with DoDAF-compliant architectures, system requirements analysis, requirements trace management (including DOOR/DNG or other related tool experience), and model-based (systems) engineering experience (including familiarity with related tools such as CAMEO).
