BAE Systems Nuclear Hardness Engineer in Hill AFB, Utah

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for well-qualified professionals to join our team for an exciting opportunity to support the readiness and sustainment of the USAF ICBM program. The ICBM System Program Office must ensure a safe, secure and reliable MM III weapon system as required by the war fighter (Air Force Global Strike Command) through 2030. This contract augments organic resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, mission effectiveness, and ICBM Demonstration / Validation (Dem/Val) Integrated Applications Programs. Position is located at or near Hill AFB, Utah; however, remote site arrangements may be possible for a highly qualified candidate.

This role will provide a combination of Nuclear Hardness related Electrical Engineering services. The successful candidate will:

  1. Provide mechanical / electrical / chemical and related engineering services.

  2. Support Program Manager in the execution of their duties.

  3. Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex problems.

  4. Provide technical leadership of all phases of design analysis, development, integration and implementation.

  5. Be capable of determining independently the appropriate use of technologies in solving problems.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Supports Integrated Product Team efforts by contributing to systems engineering, electrical engineering, or logistical tasks.

  2. Provides recommended solutions for bonding, shielding, electromagnetic, and nuclear hardness applications in accordance with applicable MIL-STDs.

  3. Performs problem solving in areas that require expertise and knowledge in areas of specialization and related fields.

  4. Evaluates plans, reports, requirements, and criteria from a technical perspective for a variety of technical activities and recommends alternatives as required to comply with customer and company obligations.

  5. Assists in the development of solutions to specific problems; establishes technical approach, selects and pursues courses of action necessary to explore subject area and obtain required results. Assist with testing and test planning.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 15 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Required Education:

BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics, from an ABET accredited college/university

Required Experience:

15 years experience in Nuclear Hardness and Survivability (NH&S) engineering in various aspects of system design, configuration control, hardness assurance, etc (a software emphasis is not acceptable; must be power systems, or electromagnetics, or other electrically-based or EM-based area). Experience with EMI / EMC / EMP mitigation.

Required Skills:

  • Strong background in EMP coupling to systems, analysis of effects from burnout to upset and familiarity with MIL-STD-2169, - 188-125-1, -464, -461.

  • Obtain a U.S. Government security clearance during the first few months of employment (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite; a current clearance is preferred, but not required)

  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate strong initiative and an ability to organize daily tasks with little or no supervision

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to interact with customers, team members, external vendors, and various levels of management

  • Must have experience in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in and experience with Spice or Microcap or similar circuit modeling

Preferred Skills and Education

Preferred Skills and Education:

  • Strong familiarity with military technology, technical data or ICBMs

  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

  • Experience with EMI / EMC /EMP

  • Experience with electrical systems integration

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and problem solving using it
