BAE Systems GBSD Infrastructure Engineer in Hill AFB, Utah

Job Description

The ICBM System Program Office Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Division is in the acquisition of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile system to replace the Minuteman III. In order to successfully field a new weapon system, the GBSD program requires a comprehensive product support strategy that ensures the system can be operated, maintained and sustained well into the future. This will include a large number of Military Construction (MILCON) projects at several Air Force installations.

This position will directly support the government s GBSD Product Support Manager (PSM) in development and deployment of the product support strategy to meet GBSD Program requirements and timelines throughout the phases of the acquisition. Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will be responsible for supporting formulation of requirements, prioritization, programming, and execution of MILCON and infrastructure projects and the associated risks . They will work with the various Integrated Product Teams, stakeholders, and contractors to assess and develop their MILCON requirements. This team member will create, maintain and update schedules that support phased dates on each project as the GBSD Program moves forward through development and deployment. They will assist the government customer in drafting, updating, and coordinating required documents as projects proceed through the approval process. Once approved, they will serve as the government's subject matter expert on project management during execution. Finally, this individual will support the PSM in conducting meetings and providing subject matter expertise to enable sound logistics and sustainment decisions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of comprehensive MILCON programming documentation, verifying compliance with Unified Facility Criteria and federal governmental finance regulations and verifying construction cost estimates. Additionally, the selected candidate will provide technical peer reviews of design submittals, and will conduct/prepare engineering reports and make recommendations to solve Facilities and Infrastructure issues. Plans, proposes and recommends structures and facilities, such as culverts, roads, vehicle pads, underground utilities and small water and wastewater projects. Analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. May construct models to identify project specifications and meet related needs.

The position is being filled as a part of the Future ICBM Sustainment and Acquisition Construct (FISAC) under which BAE Systems augments organic government resources by providing subject matter expertise and will be located at or near Hill AFB, Utah.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited engineering program and professional design work experience.

Bachelor s Degree with 12 years of related experience (10 with MS)

Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Ability to clearly communicate in English, both written and verbal

Experience in Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Project

Preferred Skills and Education

Highly Preferred

  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Suite to include Microsoft Project

  • Knowledge of Air Force Real Property terminology and processes

  • Experience preparing MILCON documentation (DD Form 1391) and Air Force Real Property practices

  • Experience with Army Corp of Engineers contract and construction practices


  • Public Works experience

  • DoD Construction cost estimating experience.

  • ICBM field engineering experience at an operational Air Force Missile Wing.

  • Engineering experience directly related to the ICBM weapon system's support infrastructure

  • Experience with military acquisition programs

  • Staff skills and staffing experience

  • Knowledge of Air Force Risk Management Process
