We are looking for a Systems/Software Engineering Discipline Manager to lead an interdisciplinary team of engineers in a dynamic and challenging environment. The discipline manager will facilitate the stand up of a new team, assisting with front-end talent acquisition, and establishing resources as an integral part of the design, development, and verification of products within our commercial and military product families.

Duties include:

Supervisory responsibilities in alignment with business objectives, administering communication, performance, compensation, and recognition programs

Provide technical expertise and consultation as needed, including budget and schedule

Promote and represent the cultural values of the engineering organization

Lead continuous improvement of technical capabilities, processes, and tools

Partner with project team leads to effectively staff execution projects and develop talent

Support new business pursuits, cost reductions, customer support, and project leadership

Proactively manage knowledge transfer - develop mentoring pairs, document procedures and lessons learned, identify best practices, etc.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 10 years of related experience.

  • Previous experience in project leadership role or functional management

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve cost, cycle time, customer and engineering process objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and motivate technical teams

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and coordinate with other functions and customers

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Experience in full lifecycle system development including requirements, design, integration and verification

  • Knowledge of system development processes and procedures

  • Desire to continuously improve engineering processes and standards

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Familiarity and experience with flight, avionics, engine or industrial controls programs

  • Familiarity and experience with hybrid system programs in personal, commercial, or military ground vehicles

  • Experience with Requirements Management (ie, DOORS) and Configuration Management (ie, Synergy) tools

  • Familiarity with product and systems safety

  • Experience with Model Based Development

  • Experience with Control Law and/or Built In Test development

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as DO-178B/C, ARP4754 and DO-160

  • Experience with embedded Software development including development of custom OS and Drivers

  • Experience with HW/SW integration

  • Experience with Requirements Based Verification

  • 2 years of engineering management or project leadership experience

  • Previous experience leading engineering team of 10 or more

  • Knowledge of test/support equipment development
