Job Description

The person selected for the position will be responsible for supporting and driving focused projects across a variety of departments in the manufacturing operation s organization. The selected individual must be able to operate independently, with the ability to use data to determinekey business issues and Six Sigma opportunities for BAE Systems,and utilize various continuous improvement methods, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, to improve processes.Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability and business processes to reduce defects and attain world-class levels of quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • PC proficiency for SPC and Statistical data analysis and documentation

  • Apply quantitative statistical methods and analytical skills to assigned projects

  • In depth understanding of Lean manufacturing and risk assessment tools

  • Lead change by challenging conventional wisdom, developing and applying new methodologies, and creating innovative strategies.

  • Promote out-of-the-box and critical thinking.

  • Challenge old ways of doing business for purpose of developing new breakthroughs

  • Provide leadership, mentor and develop other individuals in the use of six sigma methods

  • Support Lean manufacturing training programs

  • Work effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Effectively influence and motivate others

  • Project Management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good verbal presentation skills

  • Competently address various organizational levels

  • Manage and prioritize work load & direction with little or no supervision

  • Ability to travel when required

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelor s degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certified (certification based on industry standards)

  • Ability to lead teams, and facilitate Kaizen events

  • Experience in teaching a variety of Lean and/or Six Sigma topics

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Lean certified (SME/Shingo/AME standards)
