BAE Systems Continuous Improvement Lead in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Directly champion and support the site Continuous Improvement efforts. Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering role working with shop and support staff to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth of production. This includes building the plant-wide strategy and vision for the continuous improvement journey (Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Rapid Improvement Office, etc).
Lead cross-functional teams, workshops, training, Kaizen teams. Evaluate and analyze current processes, recommend, and implement solutions. The emphasis is on strategy and implementation, and requires direct hands-on and mentoring efforts. Efficiency / Productivity will be a key emphasis, as well as growing the site knowledge level on continuous improvement and lean.
Lean manufacturing champion efforts to improve process flow, factory layout, flow time, yield, and waste elimination. Will lead and facilitate Lean methods including: Standard Work, Cellular Manufacturing, One Piece Flow, Set Up Reduction, Kanban & Pull Systems, Value Stream Mapping, Poke Yoke Mistake Proofing.
Will support various programs and all manufacturing areas, including circuit-card assembly, unit-build, aftermarket, and development, as well as support functions.
May assist in product transitions between factories, product ramp ups, new product introductions.
Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
3-5 years work experience or equivalent experience
Able to resolve complex problems
MS Office - strong in MS Excel
Work cross functionally with people from various cultures, and various roles including shop, support, and management.
Organized self-starter who can find causes of delay or problems by seeking input along with direct observation.
Ability to present information to convince others of valid conclusions, as well as willingness to incorporate alternate ideas.
Strong influencing skills

-Lean and/or Six Sigma training
Computer skills including Visio, CAD, ProModel
Mentoring and/or leadership experience
Experience in developing site strategies and vision, then driving implementation
