BAE Systems Aircraft and Avionics Engineering Manager in Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Job Description

This position will report to the Program Director and Chief Engineer and be responsible for the direction of engineering resources to include working with Project Managers and manufacturing to ensure system design meets requirements and production, integration, and delivery is accomplished within budget and schedule.

The position will provide technical oversight of engineering activities/processes and lead efforts to follow systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle of the program to include developing system specifications, managing program requirements, and verifying delivered products, services, and engineering data meets requirements.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor s Degree (preferably in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or Engineering Management) and 10 years of related experience

Experience with aircraft design and modification including electronics production and fabrication of associated avionic line replaceable assembly (LRU) and Shop Replaceable Assembly (SRA) components. The applicant should also be familiar with test stations for LRUs and SRAs including their development and design for electronics production and fabrication.

Extensive background and experience in management of technical personnel in an engineering environment and with processes related to design, documentation, manufacturing and delivery of complex instrumentation to the US and foreign Government customers.

Experience with requirements for development, design of complex systems, incorporating new designs and systems into existing platforms and developing technical documentation.

Proficient with tracking verification activities and supporting integration and test activities

Able to analyze, develop, and enhance engineering workflow processes.

Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, CMMI, and Program gate review processes.

Preferred Skills and Education

Must be fluent in areas of cost, schedule, and risk management and be capable of managing quick reaction, short duration, and high-priority projects.

Possess the ability to develop proposals, Statements of Work, project schedules and WBS input.

Must possess the ability to work independently and meet deadlines with considerable latitude for actions or decisions, independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision.

Supports, plans and organizes all activities to meet product line, department, quality and company objectives including productivity targets, cost and schedule objectives.

Establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of operations, product quality, and safety.

Serves as point of contact for assigned personnel in matters pertaining to recruitment, personnel transactions, and disciplinary actions. Evaluates assigned personnel on clear and well-defined objectives in a fair and consistent manner.

Promotes Lean initiatives and effective management of resources. Develops specific process improvement initiatives in support of innovation initiatives.

Provides a liaison function to execute and coordinate engineering services. Provides coordination between design engineers and operations for projects including the determination and vetting of project technical requirements and managing changes that could impact current or future projects.
