BAE Systems Desktop Support Engineer in Fort Meade, Maryland

Job Description

Candidate will be part of a team responsible for managing and maintaining classified and unclassified computer systems supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) agency. This support will consist of computers, VOIP phones, printers, and other related software and hardware supporting 24/7/365 operations. Responsible for developing/refining/implementing and maintaining ITIL based processes and procedures. This position provides input to a knowledge management and Standard Operating Procedures for improved customer support and ensures all work is properly logged into the enterprise ticketing system. They will support and maintain the organizations physical and virtual desktop infrastructures. This position will ensure all reports are accurate, high quality, and completed on time.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

ITIL foundation certification

HDI Desktop Support Manager (HDI-DSM) certification

Knowledge Center Support (KCS) (formally Knowledge Management Foundations) certification

DoD 8570 IAT certification: This is a Security (CE), SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, GCIH, GCED, CASP, or CISSP (or Associate) certification (CISSP or CASP preferred)

Extensive experience as a systems/network administrator

Proficient using BMC Remedy trouble ticketing system

Ability to coordinate administrative activities with specific attention to detail and accuracy

Must be able to multitask, set priorities and achieve success

Ability to troubleshoot, update, patch, and configure MS Windows Operating Systems

Knowledge of network and network principles

Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience required

Good communication skills, both oral and written

Must possess and maintain a DoD clearance

Preferred Skills and Education

Unix and/or Linux experience

Microsoft certification

Cisco certification

Other related IT certifications
