BAE Systems Digital Circuit Design Engineering Manager in Endicott, New York

Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Digital Design Engineering Manager to provide leadership and management oversight for a digital design development unit, comprised of 20 engineers. The job focus is on functional management, resource acquisition and development, technical leadership, mentoring, and process improvement. Additional focus includes leadership of digital design R&D and product development / support for control electronics used in Military and Commercial Aircraft and ground vehicles. Ensure achievement of technical and business level performance objectives.

  • Promote / develop process improvement procedures and guidelines.

  • Work with Project leads to ensure the right skills are applied to projects

  • Manage the work assignments for the team.

  • Identify training and development needs for the group.

  • Evaluate the performance for each employee.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.

  • Promote an inclusive work force environment and ethical conduct.

  • Counsel, aid, and support the career development of employees.

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachleors degree (EE preferred)

  • 5 years experience leading teams

  • 8 years of experience with development of digital design and processor systems

  • Experience leading technical professionals on digital designs used in avionics and control systems

  • Hands-on hardware build, test, and integration experience

  • Familiarity with FPGA design and simulation tools/debug environments

  • Verification planning and coverage-driven test experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of digital electronic devices and circuit design principles.

  • Experience using design/analysis tools

  • Motivated self-starter with leadership skills and ability to effectively engage and motivate a team

  • Excellent problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability

  • Strong written and oral presentation skills

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Strong understanding of state of the art verification techniques

  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-254 hardware design processes

  • Design experience with Microprocessor/Microcontroller interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, PCIe)

  • Experience with memory interfaces (SDRAM controllers, Flash, SRAM)

  • Serial interface familiarity (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, RS422, RS485, Ethernet, etc)

  • FPGA design knowledge base with multiple supplier devices (Microsemi, Xilinx, Lattice, Altera)

  • Hands-on hardware build, test, and integration experience

  • 2 years Previous engineering management and project leadership experience
