BAE Systems Development Machinist in Endicott, New York
BAE Systems is looking for a Machinist who can work within a development machine shop setting to support a wide variety low to highly complex machining applications in support of development and limited production products. Use machining skills to solve complex problems. Operate and maintain a wide variety of equipment in a low to moderately defined work environment.

Required Skills and Education
Required education: High School/GED
Develops high-quality, creative machining solutions in a quick-turn development environment
Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, verbal instructions. Develops creative solutions to solve moderate to complex technical problems
Logical thinking, forethought of action and analytical skills
Ability to conduct precision measurements using a variety of mechanical / electromechanical measuring devices in order to produce and self-inspect work
Programs and operates NC equipment utilizing a variety of CAD / CAM applications
Strong skills in trigonometry and geometry
Must have a wide intimate working knowledge of machining processes and techniques as well as use of hand tools. Under limited supervision, develop and perform set-ups, program, and operate various machines to produce a wide range of parts and assemblies without prescribed procedures.
Overtime as required to meet customer needs
Lifting up to 50 lbs, good manual dexterity required, ability to stand and operate machines for long periods of time, ability to stoop, bend, and use hands and arms to move product
Ability to understand and follow procedures
Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in team environment working with both peers and internal customers.
Familiarity and use of standard office tools including Microsoft Excel, Word and Email. Ability to learn other basic electronic applications.
3 - 5 years of
relevant complex machining experience
Preferred Skills and Education
Sheet metal fabrication experience including layout and development
TIG / MIG welding
Precision internal grinding
Prior team coordination experience prioritizing others
work, ordering and maintaining general stock and tooling.
Demonstrated ability to work well with internal customers in order to understand their needs and help to provide acceptable solutions including available resources and schedule.
