BAE Systems GPS - Systems Engineer in El Segundo, California

Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking an engineer to join our team of Global Positioning System (GPS) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) experts to support the GPS III Satellite program. The GPS SE&I Team provides specialized engineering, analysis, operations support and subject matter expertise to the GP Directorate. Within the SE&I Team, the successful candidate will report to the SE&I GPS Space Division Lead and will work with the GP Directorate s GPS III team and GPS III Stakeholders.

Duties include:

  • Supporting the GPS Directorate in the Enterprise Road to Launch and Road to Mission efforts on the GPS III program, integrating the Lockheed Martin GPS III Spacecraft with the Raytheon OCX ground system

  • Participating in the Mission Readiness Campaign: dress rehearsals, readiness tests, enterprise assessments and discrepancy review boards

  • Ensuring effective requirements integration across space and ground, hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations within the GPS Enterprise

  • Maintaining the technical baseline, including identifying and documenting system specification and interface requirement traceability to sell-off verification and test events

  • Collaborating with prime contractors, support contractors, government civilians and members of the U.S. Air Force

  • Interacting with the prime contractor and government leads to ensure that all system requirements and interfaces are consistent and valid across the GPS Enterprise

  • Developing, documenting, executing, integrating and evolving systems engineering processes as required to enable effective GPS systems engineering and integration efforts

Typical Education & Experience

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, or related field.

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

  • 8 years of engineering experience working on a Gov t or commercial space program

  • Experience writing and managing engineering requirements and interface control documents

  • Proactive professional who identifies and resolves issues

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills

Preferred Skills and Education

  • 6 experience with Master s Degree in Engineering

  • GPS experience

  • Experience designing, developing or verifying Space Flight Software

  • Ground system software development experience

  • DOORS experience
