BAE Systems Tech Project Manager in Chesapeake, Virginia

-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /->BAE Systems is seeking a Project Manager who embraces challenges and is a motivated self-starter. This individual must be able to provide attention to detail in their work, while maintaining a perspective aimed at making the program successful. The candidate must lead a team of subject matter experts in fulfilling technical requirements for Special Operations Forces and other government agencies. The team will support both urgent short duration projects, and longer term requirements. Project team activities include system design, procurement, fabrication, integration, testing and evaluation, installation, and fielding support for communication platforms.

Oversees and manages the technical project(s). Serves as a liaison between project management, functional teams, and line management. Prepares project execution plans and identifies technical and business resources needed. Reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team.

The following duties are typical of the position:

  1. Responsible for the leadership of a project, or portions of multiple projects, within established program guidelines.

  2. Liaison with customers and other contractors.

  3. Develops, or assists with, development of project cost estimates.

  4. Coordinates with functional managers for resources.

  5. Executes processes and procedures to meet management and project requirements.

  6. Develops briefs and/or reports on the status of assigned projects.

  7. Ensures quality assurance requirements are met.

  8. Initiates corrective action to support task problems and failures.

  9. Monitors work and expenditures to ensure schedule and budget are maintained.

This position is located in Chesapeake, VA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to the Chesapeake vicinity.

Required Skills and Education

Familiarity or experience with tactical military communications systems

Technical project management experience

Active security clearance and ability to maintain

Experience with Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

Strong written and verbal communication skills

High school diploma and at least 8 years of related experience

Preferred Skills and Education

Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Certification

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Project Management, or Engineering and at least 4 years of related experience
